I’ve be in Wellington in february, and i’ve really enjoy your art gallery on the street, love the idea.. I’m painting myself, but very far far away from you, in Mayotte, french island between Madagascar and Mozambique ( east african coast).. Anyway, thank you !!!!!!!!

Hi Michael after months of watching the development of the John St site, I realised there was a website attached and I’m really intrigued by your project. How did the developers and you hook up? Are they supplying paints and resources or have you financed this yourself? I’d like to feature this on the lettingspace.org.nz (which has a slightly different focus to yours, being on built rather than pre-built environments). But keen to know more about your project in terms of the raison d’etre behind it!

Good to see the wall is starting ot come alive! Am really keen to hear how it holds up to any tagging/vandalism…..if it successfully stops tagging then I might be keen to have you work on a few things here in Tauranga….

Definitely think this is the best idea, then it can be an ongoing thing, and when all the pieces are painted
you could start back over again (going round in a circle). This would mean each has a fair amount of time up,
and new ones get their own chance – also it keeps up with what’s topical. (You could have suggested
themes which could be social/environmental issues and people could vote for each one).

Hi, Brian sound pretty interesting… Although I am writing up the brief for the first project at the moment (I’ll should have it sent out by tomorrow) I think you will like it. It is still fairly open ended so you can take this sort of angle you want with it. I will be running a number of other projects in the coming months too so if you have another ideas remember to jot them down for the next brain storm.

Something from google which i was checking my spelling on escapism lol. quite biased and agressive, but it makes me think of songs such as ’somewhere over the rainbow’ (watched Australia anyone?)

damn, is it too late to suggest a theme?

escapism, anyone? with the current social/political/economic situation, people are inclined to indulge in fantasies to get away from reality (you’ve probably seen the recent big wednesday hype on news).

i reckon it’s important to remind ourselves the bad times wont go on forever but over indulging in fantasies will most definiately be harmful to any individual.

for me this is certainly an interesting theme to explore and one which the public can relate to and engage with

For one of the projects you could make it look like a massive gallery wall and have picture frames for people to put their designs up on.
